Gomber Education Foundation presents Henrik Ibsen's classic play “Hedda Gabler”, (A Just Theatre Production), from February 12th - 14th, 2010 at Rangashankara, JP Nagar, Bangalore. “Hedda Gabler” considered Henrik Ibsen’s greatest play and Hedda, the most interesting woman ever created for the stage.

This immortal and legendary character will now be essayed on stage by well-known film and theatre actress Sheeba Chadha and supported by a host of actors from Mumbai’s film, television and theatre world. Hedda Gabler premiers in Bangalore this February before travelling to Delhi and Mumbai.

"Yes, courage... if only one had that... then maybe life would be tolerable, after all..." HEDDA GABLER. Returning from her honeymoon already desperately bored with her marriage to George Tesman, an aspiring professor, Hedda begins plotting against the brilliant and dissolute Eilert Lovborg, an old admirer of hers and a rival of her husband's for a coveted academic post. Slowly but irreversibly, she begins to find herself drawn into the clutches of the predatory Judge Brack, who is keen on establishing a menage a trois. The situation can have only one outcome... Enigmatic, headstrong, and manipulative, Hedda Gabler is one of the modern theatre’s most iconic figures.

Often referred to as the ‘Female Hamlet’ Hedda has struck a chord with audiences since the play was first performed over 100 years ago. Audiences across the globe have been shocked, scandalized and profoundly moved by both Ibsen’s play and the complex characters. Popular actresses like Eleanora Duse, Alla Nazimova, Eva Le Gallienne and the inimitable Ingrid Bergman have essayed the role of Hedda on screen. Others that have played Hedda on stage include Harriet Walter and Cate Blanchett! Winner of several awards including two Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Revival in 1992 and 2006, Hedda Gabler also won Cate Blanchett the Helpmann Award for Best Female actor in a play, in 2005.
