Bangalore Screenwriting Workshop to Premiere in the City

Ever had a great story in your head that you thought could be made into a film but never knew how to do it? How often have you wondered that a story you thought of during a coffee break could be made into a film?
Rabi Kisku Entertainment will be presenting the "Bangalore Screenwriting Workshop" (BSW), a 5-day extensive, exclusive workshop in screenwriting, covering aspects from the basic fundamentals to nuances, aesthetics and the grammar of cinematic story telling. Beginning on the 12th of December, the workshop is set to continue till the 21st December. Registrations for entry into the workshop close on November 25th 2009. Timing for the workshop is between 12 pm to 7 pm; and participants should hurry with registrations, because only 125 seats are available. The fee for the course will be Rs. 6500.
Budding screenwriters can learn from the contemporary new wave of Indian screenwriters and filmmakers, and big names Nagesh Kukunoor, Ruchi Narain, Saurabh Shukla, Dibakar Banerjee, Manish Gupta, Devika Bhagat among others. Students will have the opportunity of learning from men and women who have been changing the face of Indian cinema, and get to know their insights about writing for the film industry.
Beginning on the 12th, day one the introductory session is for those who are attending a screenwriting/filmmaking workshop for the first time. It will answer questions like what isScreenplay, and give the format, softwares used and the basics of film appreciation. The workshops will also be covering Screenplay, fundamentals, approach, methodology, theme, synopsis, treatment, step- outline, elements of screenplay & process or writing
Mentors include Ruchi Narain is the co-writer for "Calcutta Mail" and the critically acclaimed film "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi". She also has the story credit for "Snip!" released in 2000. Narain made her directorial debut with "KAL: Yesterday & Tomorrow" in 2005, for which she wrote and produced independently. She is one of the few women directors who come from the school of contemporary realistic cinema. Saurabh Shukla, popularly known as "Kallu Mama" from the cult classic "Satya", Saurabh Shukla is an actor, writer, director & lyricist. He is the co-writer for "Satya", "Raghu Romeo", "Mitya", and has written dialogues for films like "Calcutta Mail", "Mumbai Express", "Salaam-e-Ishq" and the recent "Luck By Chance”.

Manish Gupta is a writer-director and illustrator. He started his career as a scriptwriter and has written for films like the acclaimed and successful "Sarkar", "Darna Zaroori Hai", and "D". He wrote and made his directorial debut with "The Stoneman Murders".
Devika Bhagat, is one of India’s young woman screenwriters who has written for films like "Bachna Ae Haseeno" and the critically acclaimed "Manorama 6 Feet Under". Her next film "Aisha" for which she has written dialogue and screenplay features Abhay Deol & Sonam Kapoor, and is currently under productio
Guest Mentors for the workshop include, Nagesh Kukunoor and Dibakar Banerjee. Kukunoor is considered to be one of the prime examples of Indian independent filmmakers, redefined Indian cinema by making the successful film 'Hyderabad Blues' on a shoestring budget. He later made "Rockford", "Bollywood Calling", critically acclaimed films like “3 Deewarein", "Iqbal" and "Dor". He directs his own scripts and is currently working on the film "Aashayein". Dibakar Banerjee made his debut with the National Award winning film "Khosla Ka Ghosla". With his second film "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!" which he co-wrote & directed, he broke away from the typical Three Act Structure rules of screenplay.
