Speaking on the occasion Mr. RK Mishra, Charter President of Rotary Club Bangalore IT Corridor said, “Among other transformational initiatives, RBITC is committed to planting 100,000 trees in Bangalore. Despite the fact that we have planted more than 25,000 trees, the city has lost more than 50,000 trees in the past 3 years. The world-over, people are recognizing the significance of global warming – and it’s time for all Bangaloreans to actively participate in helping restore the Garden City”. The above sentiments were echoed by other prominent Rotarians including Rotarian Anil Gupta, Current President of RBITC.

“As a native of Bengaluru, I am concerned about the loss of greenery in our beloved garden city," said former India cricketer, Javagal Srinath. “I am delighted to see the Green-theme as the focus of this year's Bengaluru Midnight Marathon. As a sportsman, I am looking forward to participating in the event in December, and encourage my fellow Bangaloreans to do so too”.

The Scream Green fashion show featured creations from Anitha Kholay and choreography by Rahul Dev Shetty. The Anitha Kholay creations were showcased in three themes “Recycle” where models and athletes were clad in jute and recycled paper, the next theme was “Revive” where models were draped in sarees of green and blue hues, the last theme that was showcased was titled “Run” that beautifully tied in the fashion show to the Times of India Bengaluru Midnight Marathon, for which the show was a preliminary event.

All of us are dependent on trees in some way or the other. Trees offer various environmental benefits the most important one being the removal of various kinds of impurities from the atmosphere, thus reducing the Global warming”.
