Ravichandran was born on 30th of May 1961. He is brought in a family of film background, his father successful producer, the late N.Veeraswamy, after his father’s demise he continued to run the production house Eswari Productions. He is married and by this nuptial knot he has three children. He has a great interest in casino.

Ravichandran before acting in a lead role, he played minor roles in several Kannada films in the early 1980s. His first film as an actor was Khadeema Kallaru (1982) but the movie was commercial failure and he was the director of the film. In 1983 he gave a blockbuster movie Chakravyuha and he played a negative role in the movie.

His movie Premaloka(World of Love) was box of hit and made landmark in Kannada film industry. Ravichandra he himself produced, directed and starred in the lead role and Juhi Chawla was the female lead, he spend lavishly for this movie with the budget of a Crore Rupees
during 1980’s and it is the expensive movie of the its time. The move set a trend and took Kannada film industry to next level, the movie is still praised even today.

Ravichandran filmy career span is for more than two decades as actor, director, producer, music director, and lately, as a lyricist. In the mid-1980s, as an actor he starred in lead roles in movies like Swabhimana, Savira Sullu, Pralayantaka, and Naanu Nanna Hendthi, and these movies are box office hit, yet many of his movies were modest successes, which brought him the review of mediocre recognition.

Ravichandran's first major success as director was Prema Loka, he made film of his own style. He is good technician, as he has clear vision of technical aspect of cinema as well as he is talented in handling camera and innovative camera angles, the close ups and fast-cuts he uses are excellent. His movies are lavishly spent and concentrate on distinguished cinematography, sound, lighting, and special effects. He is innovative in shooting song sequence and his settings of the songs are richly-mounted. Above all, Ravichandran is known for perfection, he shoots the single scene or sequence, until it is perfect, but after the lean patch in late 90's, he is said to have made amends to this temperament.

Ravichandran initially starred in the movies directed and produced by his own banner, Eswari Productions. After Prema Loka, he has worked with leading directors of the Kannada film industry such as S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu, and D.Rajendra Babu. He is close friend of Producer Rockline Venkatesh, Ravichandran had worked in several movies, produced by Rockline Venkatesh such as Yaare Neenu Cheluve, Preethsod thappa, ondagona baa,

Ravichandran produce movies of heavy budget in the industry that has a limited market, one such movie is Prema Loka and it is considered as the expensive movie in its time and Shanti Kranti(1991) is the costliest movie ever made in Kannada till then but the movie was huge failure at box office. Later films he produced were comparatively less expensive, but the budgets comparatively great than the others movies produced by other producer in Kannada films. His movie Ramachari remake of Tamil movie Chinna Thambi was a biggest blockbuster of the year and it was released in the same year when Shanti Kranti was release.

His long term friendship with music director Hamsalekha, the pair gave hit music for decades together after a public spat and series of flops they separated and this compelled Ravichandran to become music director. He has given a few fine tunes in Ekangi. He has his own Audio Company, Eswari Audio

He tried out an option to avoid the piracy; he bypassed the entire music industry and sold the music-cassettes through Cable-Operators of the movie Aham Premaasmi. By this initiative he proved there are many innovative steps can be used to bring in the business and sale.
